Author of "The Morphine Dream"
Apr. 02, 2015
Starting at age 13 when his father's suicide spun his family into chaos, Donald Brown found himself swirling in a sea of uncertainty. He rebelled, was labeled a "loser," dropped out of high school, and put a promising baseball career on hold to join the Marines. A bizarre accident put his plans out of reach so he settled for a factory job where an industrial accident crushed his knee and left him wheelchair-bound. Doctors told him he'd never walk again. Then, his marriage failed. Brown felt utterly defeated. But while on morphine for pain Brown dreamed he would graduate from Harvard Law School and walk across America. Everyone told him he was crazy. Undeterred, over the next few years, Brown would accomplish both goals. This awe-inspiring story chronicles Brown's journey, both physical and metaphorical, to re-calibrate his life. From Boston to Big Sur, from the factory floor to the halls of the Ivy League, this book celebrates determination and courage and offers hope for those who need to reboot their lives. |

Family Genealogy
Apr. 09, 2015
If you don't know where to start exploring your you family history OR even if you don't care a bit about your family history, Marnie will point you in a direction that should be helpful. If you are already addicted to genealogy, please feel free to join in and add to the presentation. Marnie's mother started researching her family's ancestors years ago. She got caught up in genealogy when her mother, then in her 90s, wanted to know what Raymond, NH, was like in the late 1770s. It has been straight down hill (or up hill depending upon your perspective) since then. Marnie is pretty much self-taught. Information from conferences, workshops, online webinars and such has combined with her library research skills allowing her to discover that her ancestors, her husband' ancestors and her ex-husband's ancestors were all in Ipswich in the 1600s. She has also done some research for friends. |

Author of "Game Over or Game On"
Apr. 23, 2015
Game Over Or Game On: How Pro Athletes Leave Sports and Enjoy the Game of Life provides an account of how various pro athletes from the past several decades have made contributions in the fields of entertainment, business, politics, community service, coaching, management, and broadcasting upon retirement. Author David Ostrowsky focuses on the stories of athletes who have leveraged their resources, money, fame, and time for having a positive influence in their respective endeavors. Some of the athletes profiled include: David Robinson, Dikembe Mutombo, Steve Finley, Scott Brosius, Butch Hobson, Tony Amonte, Dontrelle Willis, Dolph Schayes, Ron Mix, Kevin Johnson, Warrick Dunn, Shawn Kemp, Mo Vaughn, and Kellen Winslow, among others. |

Live for Liv (at BSA, Knox Trail Resident Camp, Bolton)
Jul. 09, 2015
Just seventeen years old her life was ended by a tragic moment of domestic violence. She was killed with a gunshot wound from her father who also shot and critically injured her mother, Jody Marchand, on February 1, 2010. While Olivia's life might have ended tragically, she led a life full of joy, love and had many dreams. She was excited to finish high school where she had achieved highest honors and was about to begin a new chapter at the University of Vermont. She loved her friends and family. She loved her life. In her last few weeks she had embraced yoga, meditation, and was studying buddhism. She was at peace. This foundation’s mission is to spread the love and joy she always shared with others and to carry out her dreams she wasn’t able to finish. While one negative act can send waves of violence and hate, our mission is to create positive energy sending a ripple of hope and change in her honor. Our mission is to build an organization in memory of Olivia which continues her love of the outdoors, nature, gardening and cooking. |

Sep. 03, 2015
The Bolton Conservation Trust was established in 1974 by a group of citizens concerned with conservation and the impacts that rapid growth and development would have on the town’s rural landscape. As a private, non-profit organization, the Trust’s mission is to assist in, and to promote, the preservation of the rural character of Bolton; to preserve and to maintain conservation areas; and to educate the public concerning the use of natural resources. |
